Best Scores: Conan by Basil, Superfly by Curtis Mayfield, almost anything Morricone but the Man with no name trilogy especially. Best explosion: End of Fight Club..its not huge but its beautiful in context and framing. For bigness Police Story 2 hands down. I still love Blown Away with the fire descending on Tommy Lee Jones and the Bomb at the beginning of Die Hard 3. Took the whole theater by surprise And Carlyle is insane if he thinks Highlander 1 is better than the TV series. Clancy Brown is the best thing about that film....

The thing I love about Mr. Fox's look is that the style is unapologetically stop-motion, instead of being CG smooth like Selick/Burton have gotten people used to (even though I love Coraline too). It's more in the style of Jan Svenkmajer or those old Russian stop-motion shorts, and I just love those old styles. It's kind of a throwback to an older style, like if a new 2D animated cartoon looked like a 30s cartoon....or a CG animated cartoon with cubes flying in negative space.

bonfire, what do you listen to? Classical music? Ever since the introduction of jazz, music has been about feeling and emotion. No one cared if Elvis and his band hit notes perfectly. They just wanted to rock n' roll. You don't think Elvis and the Beattles didn't start as a subcultural thing.

You know, I came out of the movie saying the exact same thing Corey said about the film. That the film was good, not great, and it realy needed a brutal editor. But as I look back on the film, and think about it, I do kinda want to see it again to better judge it. I feel this is a film that at first will not be well recieved, but later on it will find a strong fan base with people who gueinuinly enjoy the film, much like Never Ending Story, Secret of NIHM, or The Dark Crystal. Those films weren't really well recieved when they came out, and they were dark and bizzare. As time went on though they became classics among certain crowds, and I think this will become on of those movies.

Man, I got into a fight with some little girl's dad during Where THe WIld Things Are, the girl was obviously bored and was talking and being obnoxious, so I yelled at the little girl. Before I did it, I took my camera out and recorded it, here's the vid lol >

Fantastic Mr. Fox looks boring as hell. I mean, I actually like Wes Anderson, but it really looks boring and unoriginal.

Space Cake? Korey, I do worry about you. I'm sorry, but to me that doesn't sound like fun, sounds very dangerous. Must be the frustrated mom in me.

pearl jam and hipsters both suck, if you are going to have music in a film or any or other format they need to be able to play their instruments. No one wants to be good at music anymore, they just want to have a look associated with a subculture.

NOW I GET IT!!! Guys like it or not some of these movies are going to have a hipster influence, I'm 32 years old and sure I might be into some of the stuff and styles I grew up with, but I love so much more from this generation, and yes some of it includes what came out of the hipster/emo scenes. There are so many revues where the hipster influence ticked you guys off, no offense but you guys are starting to sound like most people my age who listen to nothing but Pearl Jam or NIN.

I forgot one more show I think is better then the original movie, "Back to The Barnyard". It's an animated series that Nickelodeon came out with. It's based off of the animated movie "The Barnyard". I love this cartoon! The jokes come fast and in bunches.

I want to second the Genndy Tartakovsky 2D animated Clone Wars cartoon as being better than the movie (if you count both volumes as a single film, I'd place this one as my second favorite SW movie after ESB). The writing is awesome, and there are true moments of greatness where the characters really shine. Plus, the animation is killler. It's too bad Lucas got jealous and shitcanned Genndy for being too popular, otherwise he probably could have revived the whole franchise. It's a million times better than anything the prequels had to offer, and light years beyond that horrific mutated garbage 3D version that Lucas is currently trying to cram down kid's throats.

I'm honestly no where in your plan of how people are going to see Where the Wild Things Are Carlyle. I loved it personally, but whenever people tell me what flaws it had, I agree with them. I thought there were a few flaws, but I was able to look past it for the really great stuff in it. HOWEVER: I have to disagree with you when you say "I wish this film had a plot." This film had a plot, the film was just ambiguous about it's plot. I'm fine with you saying that you don't like it, but don't say it had no plot.
