The action was great, but I didn't like all that flashing while the action was going on. That was pretty disturbing and unnecessary. The other half with the "society" was total crap imho and could better have been replaced with another storyline. That just downgraded the whole movie for me. So I agree with rental.

Basically this movie is summed into one scene: "He's fucking teabagging that guy!" Best scene in any movie all summer.

Why isn't Terry Crews the pony to bet on? Gerard Butler, whatever man. But Terry Crews always delivers.

Ok so this is an interesting concept that might just get me to rent it on DVD, but I cant imagine this will have enough depth to warrant going to see it in the movies. Great idea and concept though. Ashley :) >Movie Trivia

Gamer has to be the biggest disappointment, with respect to action films, that I have seen this year. I didn't go into it expecting great acting or even an engaging plot. What I did expect was skillfully shot action sequences, which faithfully represented first person shooter games. I expected very extended and well-choreographed gun battles with long tracking shots, epic sweeps of the camera across the screen between shooters, and crystal clear imagery showing the action. What I got instead were action scenes where every frame oscillated between a shaky camera and static, dimly lit scenery punctuated by blinding light that made the people look indistinguishable from each other, and lightening fast editing between various participants in the game. The movies cinematography seemed to vacillate between the appearance of a drug induced hallucination to a dark motif of a horror film. This chaotic and incoherent style of shooting works well with movies like Crank 1 & 2, because it immerses you in a world where the main character is in a state of a drug fueled, or literally electrically engendered, hyperactivty. It makes absolutely no sense to do this on this movie. The end result was visual crap. As if this werent bad enough, the movie squandered moments, where it could have actually made serious social points. The movie didnt make you connect with any of the characters, and two decent actors (Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall) wasted their talents on this film. This was an all around disappointment from start to finish.

You're saying Butler is a fantastic actor, but you have seen only 2 movies with him. Then you said he was "good" not "fantastic", like you stated on the beginning. How logical
