I think you guys were a bit too harsh. The acting was at least decent, and the lead's uncanny resemblance to Tom Cruise had my attention throughout the movie. I agree with the review as a whole - crazy school/town; "Digimon" Hounsou was cool; very cut-and-dry script - but I don't think we're really supposed to care. This is that "so bad it's good" vibe like NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER with some ROCKY-wannabe training montages. But watching one round of actual MMA super heavyweights will put you to sleep faster than the fighting in this film ever could. Casting nitpick: They should have cast Martin "Sensei Kreese" Kove as the bad guy's old man.

Whoever is responsible for this cinematic abortion should be drawn and quartered. This isn't an accurate portrayal of MMA and I'm sure if Chuck Liddell had his drothers he'd put his foot through the producer's face. Co-Host is right that this shouldn't be made into a movie. The creator's of this turd were obviously just thinking of cashing in on the newfound popularity of MMA. They probably also thought that they'd then cash-in on the demographic. I'm a huge MMA fan and want nothing to do with this movie. I'm keeping my 8 bucks and I'll put it towards the next UFC event on PPV.

I watched the movie yesterday, and I have to say that I LOVE IT! Many people in the theater gave the movie a round of applause. The story's pretty good, the fighting choreography is well-done, and there are a few funny moments here and there. The main antagonist isn't really a villain; he just has inner demons of his own to deal with. I also like the way everything has been resolved; in a way, it looks like it left room for a sequel to come along. I really hope there'll be a sequel! It should be called NEVER BACK DOWN: GET SOME!
