In this 86 minute documentary, director Belisario Franca tells the story of how the fiercely isolationist Xavante - one of the last tribal societies in the world to remain separate from modern culture - finally opened itself up to the rest of the world. The film includes views into the traditional life of the Xavante, focusing on the story of eight boys who the tribe nominated to be integrated into modern Brazilian society as advocates for the tribe in the 1970's. Filmed 34 years after the boys made their journey into the new world, Franca explores both the hope and the tragedy inherent in the eight representatives' stories.
