Why We Created "Spades" Inside SPILL
June 17th, 2024
Just in time for Juneteenth, I am HYPED to announce the release of SPILL Spades. You might be wondering WHY we chose to build a hundred year-old card game into our platform? Let’s get into it. Spades holds a revered place in Black culture, serving as a staple at family gatherings, cookouts, and holiday celebrations, creating lasting memories and strengthening bonds. With the release of SPILL Spades, we've harnessed the essence of this timeless tradition and elevated it to new heights, seamlessly blending cultural heritage with communal technology. SPILL Spades offers three modes to cater to players of all skill levels: 1. Practice Mode: Never got a chance to learn Spades (or forgot)? We got you covered! Begin your Spades journey with the comprehensive Spades 101 tutorial by Clint Coley, the host and creator of the renowned World Series of Spades tournament. Learn the game at your own pace and sharpen your skills in a “judgement-free” environment. 2. Private Mode: Recreate the intimate and personal experience of playing Spades with friends and family. Create private games, invite your loved ones, and enjoy a secure and exclusive gaming session. 3. Public Mode: Play with or against the dynamic SPILL community, engage with players and spectators through built-in chat functionality, and even "go live" with audio and video for an unparalleled immersive experience. Invite friends both on and off SPILL to join and witness your triumphs in real-time. This feature is a labor of love, meticulously crafted in response to feedback and requests since our app's inception nearly a year ago. Ultimately, our vision is to be a platform that not only entertains but also celebrates and preserves the rich cultural practices that have brought communities together for generations. Cheers to our team, our backers and all the incredible members of SPILL who continue to support us as we advance our vision to be the safest, most rewarding and most enjoyable place to build community. Now, who really wants to see me on the table (tag me @phonz on SPILL)?
